hi guys!!
Heidi here real quick, just want to take a sec to introduce you all to my good friend melanie! shes also, well, shes my #1 go-to for all and every sort of feedback i ever need for any product that i ever make! she gets it - everything i put into a product, the kind of feedback im looking for out of a product and she even is so tuned in that she picks up things i didnt even notice, and not only that - but she always, ALWAYS nails it. so... you may have seen her around the shop ( likely with her most adorable little fur baby chloe).. shes also one of the moms who comes in to make a mothers day soap every year-- so chances are youve used one of her creations and lastly.... if youve ever been to BG on small business saturday - well, then youve definitely met her -- and, if you have questions tomorrow.... she and i will be on the floor to answer most of them because we both know pretty much everything about every product coming out!
i asked her to do a guest blog with her take on the bars coming out , and heres what she gave us!!!
Melanie here, a friend of Heidi’s, and the luckiest woman in the world, because I’ve been able to test most of the bars coming out for SBS!! Hopping on here to hit some highlights of a few. Sometimes when you’re in the shop, it’s hard to get the true scents from a bar because of all the amazing aromas around you. Hopefully you’ll know which ones to make a beeline to for your taste.
If you’ve been around for a while, you’ll remember Heidi’s 10th Anniversary, when she made a lot of throwback bars; Dig, The Salt Bar and so many others we were crazy for. It was her “Goodbye” to fragrance oils, as she would never use them again (she loves our skin). What I didn’t realize until now is that while that was better, it actually stifled Heidi’s creativity when it comes to blending scents, limiting her choices. ENTER FLAVOR OILS. They’re organic, nut-free, plant fruit & vegetables compounds with so many flavors. And man have they stirred up all of her pent-up creativity!!
Okay, here goes—
Rose Tea Cake-Two of Heidi’s 3 favorite bars EVER are on this list, and this is one of them. Lemon, rose & and a hint vanilla. This bar is AN EXPERIENCE. Forget what you think you know about Rose. This one is already for sale, so supply is limited.
room 42–This is the other one on the list from Heidi’s top 3. It’s actually a throwback, so some of you may know it. Geranium & Patchouli, earthy & light at the same time. The first word that came to mind with this one is “Exquisite”. If you’re a fan of Afterglow, you will love this one!
Timberlodge—What a holiday bar! Cedar wood, Cassia & Vetiver come together smelling like live Christmas trees & holiday cooking. The lather on this one is INCREDIBLE-it’s actually creamy. Great for a shave bar with its ground flax, cranberry & canella seeds for exfoliating.
Buck—This one is slightly masculine and SO RICH. With its clary sage, 2 different kinds of cedar, lavender & copaiba, if you like Whiskey, this one’s for you.
Kettle Coffee—Many who have smelled this one say “Oreo” right away, but I smell the “leathery” Vetiver just as much. I think it’s equal parts “cookie” & “cowboy”. Either way, YUM.
White Christmas—This one immediately puts you in the mind of a freezing & dead silent winter night. Peppermint & Spearmint, Chamomile, Patchouli & Vetiver. Just genius.
Brown Sugar Banana—Oh sweetness! If you close your eyes while smelling this one, you will swear you’re holding warm banana bread. “Nuff said.
Bubblegum—Sweet bubble gum. So delightful! just fun & happy. The full size bars are more lightly-scented than the minis, great for the kiddos!!
Snowbird—I’m slightly obsessed with this bar. What a treat for the senses it is, looks like the beach, smells EXACTLY like Christmas. Think Anniversary Bar on steroids.
Frankincense & Orange—Who would think to blend these two? Heidi the Genius, that’s who! It’s absolutely mesmerizing (and beautiful), ones of my top 3 this year.
Cranberry Orange—Much like the Banana one, if you close your eyes, you might just take a bite out of this thing. You’d swear it’s an actual muffin. Be careful not to eat it!
LAVENDER SERIES—
Lavender Spearmint
Lavender Chamomile
Lavender Patchouli
Lavender Frankincense
All SO nice. The first 2 we’ve seen before and know are incredible. The second 2 are delightful surprises (how does she come up with these?). If you’re a Lavender fan, you’re going to need every one of these.
MY FAVORITE—Blackforest (Cherry Cordial)—Oh man, this bar. Dutch Cocoa & Cherry, need I say more? When I got home with this bar, I decided to read a little before showering. While reading, I suddenly realized that I was practically snorting this thing. I had absentmindedly shoved the corner of the bar up my right nostril (not my proudest moment, but I’m not necessarily ashamed either
). This thing is TO DIE FOR. Now I’m sad that I wrote this because I want to buy every one of them.
Favorites brought back—Yulescrub, White Chocolate Peppermint Bark, Pizzelle
There’s also a few fall ones left like Caramel Apple, too!
Not only is the Mad Scientist back in the lab, she’s been in the bakery too. Here’s what I will say about the bakery items—They are nothing short of pure SORCERY. They’re all unbelievable, and unbelievably limited. If you’d like some of the bakery soaps, get there SOON. Same with the Shenanigans—the cutest (and best smelling) Reindeer soap.
I hope this gives you a roadmap or at least an idea for SBS. See you then!!
cant wait to see you all tomorrow!!
